Overview
G550 galvanized coil is used where a high-strength thin-gauge substrate supports structural or building-envelope performance. The designation must be tied to the governing standard and design calculation; a similar strength label from another standard is not an automatic substitute. High strength can reduce available formability, so the roll-form profile, bend radius, fastener detail, and any punching operation should be shared before the material route is approved. Buyers should state the zinc coating class, base-metal thickness basis, width, coil limits, quantity, destination port, and packing method. For roofing, decking, or light framing, include the profile drawing and required effective cover width. MTC, coating records, and project inspection points can then be aligned with the purchase order.
